Grown Together, Harvested Together, Fermented Together

Field blends aren’t just ordinary blends of multiple grapes; they are made from multiple grape varieties grown in the same vineyard, harvested and fermented together!

This technique has a long history in both the Old and New Worlds. Fields might be planted deliberately with mixed grapes – to see which thrive, to mix comlementary characteristics, or simply for diversification. Or, they might have been mistakenly mixed. By whatever way, field-blend wines can be delightful drinks that are far more than just the sum of their parts.

We’ll taste wines from Vienna – where the technique is tradional – and also from Pennsylvania – where it is not. We’ll also taste field blends and co-fermentations from Alsace, California, and Spain.

Our tastings will transport you to a different place and time as we delve into the history of the wine, the region, and the people who make it. Each class features 5 wines that we taste while discovering the fun facts and peculiar histories of each wine’s locale.
