Lecture: Cylinder of Cyrus in Cultural Context

November 15, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

Who was Cyrus and what is this Cylinder?  Oh, and why has it been referenced by Mohammed Reza Shah Pahlavi (aka “The Shah of Iran”) and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Finally, why is a replica of it housed at the United Nations?

Join me at the FREE and open to the public PAAFF Academic Conference to learn about Neo-Babylonian and Achaemenid intersections – via Cyrus the Great. This lecture will be followed by Iranian documentary filmmaker,  Aggie Ebrahimi Bazaz, with a multi-media presentation on her contribution to the film: 7 Sides of a Cylinder

This conference is part of the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, which will also feature over 70 films! See the full program here.

For the full academic program, view here on pages 34, and 40.
