Here is another wine from my Upper Susquehanna (PA) wine trip…
I love Cabernet Franc – especially from PA. This one has now been opened for 2 days – and it needed it! It starts out very, very tannic – which rather overpowers the other flavors. However, a 2-day mellow was just what the doctor ordered. And, the black-pepper heavy body on this one is the medical remedy I need for my new-found pepper allergy to that very-common spice! How do I get people to give me food without black pepper? Easy, introduce them to this wine, to be drunk with said dishes. It has other charms, as well, including a cherry-ish nose with lavender and violet notes, and a medium body with a hint of green herbs. Good acid, and a nice bit of varietal chalk. Decent finish, great with last night’s beef stew.
